Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy – Vampire Facial

Sometimes known as a Dracula or Vampire facial, this procedure harvests growth and healing factors from your own blood to promote skin rejuvenation. This therapy is especially beneficial for the face, neck and décollete and can be used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation therapies.

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy involves taking blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate, blood cells, platelets and plasma. In PRP, there is a concentration of 94% platelets, which translates to a powerful growth factor “cocktail” with a variety of growth factors and cytokines. And since the platelets come from the patient’s own blood, there is absolutely no possibility of infection or other side effects.

To develop a PRP preparation, blood must first be drawn from a patient. The platelets are separated from other blood cells and their concentration is increased during a process called centrifugation. Then the increased concentration of platelets is combined with the remaining blood and injected into patients skin.

• Critical thrombocytopaenia (a low number of platelets in the blood)
